Looking to the future

Looking to the future, the NDC Programme has also recently invested in a Neighbourhood Plan that will complement the Strategic Regeneration Framework for the Central/East area of the City.

The Neighbourhood Plan has created a Spatial Development Strategy for the area, and has identified amongst other things a number of potential development sites, as priorities for action, including eyesores such as Forest Mills and Radford Mills. These will be seen as the key sites that will unlock further development potential that will enable the Neighbourhood Plan to come to fruition over the next 25 years.

Following the successful completion of the NDC Programme, Castle Cavendish Foundation has evolved to become a “champion” for local community renewal. It will ensure that the NDC legacy is sustained through direct ownership and control of assets and facilities. It will go onto to re-invest the net income generated from these buildings to support a new Neighbourhood Investment Fund (see relevant section) and an exciting Housing Conversion Programme to continue the neighbourhood renewal and community regeneration process.
