Our Successes

Our successes in Radford and Hyson Green include:

  • Refurbishment of more than 300 residential properties in 14 streets, including the impressive improvements at Waterloo Promenade. More recently, the Home Smart programme has begun developing more family accommodation in the area, by converting previous derelict or abandoned Houses of Multiple Occupation (HMOs) on Burns Street
  • Redevelopment of an old redundant factory into Castle Cavendish Business Centre, providing managed office space and incubation facility, for both existing and start up businesses
  • Development of Hartley Court Industrial Units, creating 4 new units on a brownfield site adjacent to 11 similar units
  • Refurbishment of Tennyson Hall into a place for voluntary sector groups to provide community information, advice and volunteering;
  • Redevelopment All Saints into a Family Wellbeing Centre managed by Nottinghamshire YMCA;
  • Refurbishment of Waverley Health Centre to provide a location for the Primary Carte Trust;

  • Funding for the improvements to a number of parks and play areas, including:
    • Wallan Street
    • Bridlington Street
    • Maples Street Skate Park
    • Bentinck Road/School
    • Independent Street Park
    • Raleigh Street
  • Investment in retail property on Alfreton Road, and funded the improvement of the public realm, through the Western Gateway programme
  • Funding for the creation of the New Art Exchange, providing a great place to promote local art and culture
  • Funding for the development of Djanolgy Community Leisure Centre, with its swimming pool and purpose built fitness suite, providing 50% subsidy for local residents
  • Providing funding and support for a Neighbourhood Investment Fund to support over 340 local projects, and build-up the capacity of 184 small community and voluntary groups.

In conclusion, the latest MORI Houshold Survey indicates that around 82% of local residents feel that their quality of life is very/fairly good.
